Drunk On My Own Tears

I have drunk from the pools of sorrow
I am drunk, drunk on my own tears
I drink my fill without having to beg, steal or borrow
I love the salty sweet taste of my own tears
I’ll drink myself into the oblivion of tomorrow
I am drunk, drunk on my own tears.

When a bone breaks all you do is cry
But when your heart breaks all your emotions die
A broken bone can be set straight again
But a broken heart will always feel the pain …
Last night’s tears are not yet dry
Today I continue to cry a fresh supply
My cheeks are caked with salt
I try but my tears will not halt.

I don’t want to remember but you won’t let me forget
Erase my memory – No! Let me keep that – and yet
Just the thought of you fills up my crying cup
Let it run over and I’ll drink it to the last teardrop …
The memory of your cherry lips and your soft caress
Just two of the reasons why I’m wide-eyed and legless
I’ll cry me a river and sail far, far away
But I know your memory will haunt me to my dying day.
