Free Kashmir?

Heated voices raised like the latest banner unfurled
Voices full of wind but like stones they are hurled
“Help to free Kashmir!” they urge and demand of me
Free Kashmir? … but Kashmir has always been free
It’s not the land but the people who are in chains
“Money is God”, they say, “Money can cure all known pains”
Everybody is up for sale, and aiming for the same goals
To line their pockets and safeguard their arseholes
‘Land of The Pure’ but the people stink to heaven
And showing a mirror to the common herd is an act of treason
‘Freedom’ the world over is just a façade
“Kashmir, only Kashmir” has always been Azad.

Kashmir

‘Kashmir, O, Kashmir,’ you were the last words
On the lips of a dying man
You moved a Mughal, and the common herds
Have been touched since the world began;

‘Kashmir, O, Kashmir,’ you are a haven for songbirds
You are a jewel set in a valley so rare
‘Kashmir, O, Kashmir,’ your beauty is beyond words
The woman has yet to be born who can compare;

Kashmir, your name is always on my lips
I love your majestic mountains crowned with snow
Your silver streams, and hills rolling like a woman’s hips
And your flower-choked lagoons that smell just so;

Time is the longest distance between two places
Kashmir, I work abroad but my heart remains with you
My mind’s eye can see each of your angelic faces
O, Kashmir, Kashmir, when I die I want to be buried in you.

In Memoriam

Give me full possession of your body and soul
And, just like that great Mughal,
To show you I’m no run-of-the-mill lover
I’ll build the Taj Mahal for you twice over …
Though it too would erode as time went by
Therefore I’ll write your name on every star in the sky.

This Moment In Time

Raise your hand … reach up so high
True love has wings … touch the sky

This moment in time
Yours and mine
This moment divine
Yours and mine
This moment in time
Yours and mine.

Before we start, let me tell you straight
Don’t waste Time, the worms lie in wait
I love you, love me before it’s too late;
I promise to always love you in style
Even if we are together for a short while
Look back and remember with a smile;
This one moment we will never regret
This one moment to only connect.

This moment in time
Yours and mine
This moment divine
Yours and mine
This moment in time
Yours and mine.

Stop Father Time, break his hands
Order him to obey your commands
Make him follow your demands;
Reach for a star and write your name
Stake your claim to everlasting fame
Every great love in history does the same;
This one moment close to oblivion
This one moment close to heaven.

This moment in time
Yours and mine
This moment divine
Yours and mine
This moment in time
Yours and mine.

Write it down on History’s page
Return to the moment in another Age
After us others will take the Stage;
For each of us there will be other relations
For each of us there will be other liaisons
For each of us there will be other passions;
This one moment before we are lost in the mist
This one moment to know why we exist.

This moment in time
Yours and mine
This moment divine
Yours and mine
This moment in time
Yours and mine.

Rosemeen (Rose of Kashmir)

Rosemeen, why are you in England?
What are you doing here?
This is not your soil or your land
Your roots are in Kashmir;
Your skin reminds me of those snow-capped mountains
Your voice reminds me of those singing silver streams
Your eyes remind me of those deep valleys and misty plains
Your lips remind me that your kisses are more than just dreams.

Rosemeen, you are without a peer
Your beauty is beyond compare
The sun smiles when you appear
Songbirds wing through the air
Flowers bloom when you are near
Rosemeen, rose of Kashmir.

Imagine a body that makes every organ thirst
Imagine angels singing a melody so divine
Imagine a face that makes your heart burst
Imagine a rose that’s been watered with wine;
If I could bottle your perfume
I would be a millionaire overnight
If I could plant you in my room
I would love you day and night.

Rosemeen, you are without a peer
Your beauty is beyond compare
The sun smiles when you appear
Songbirds wing through the air
Flowers bloom when you are near
Rosemeen, rose of Kashmir.

There’s not a pear in the world
That has curves like your hips
There’s not a rose in the world
That’s as red as your lips;
There’s a ‘heaven on Earth’ just for you
Go back to Kashmir before you get hurt
I will be waiting there to pick you
And wear you next to my heart.

Rosemeen, you are without a peer
Your beauty is beyond compare
The sun smiles when you appear
Songbirds wing through the air
Flowers bloom when you are near
Rosemeen, rose of Kashmir.

Your Thieving Eyes (Stole My Heart Away)

In the time it takes to blink
You sealed my fate with a wink
One look said all there was to say
My blood on fire, you took my breath away
A sledgehammer started pounding in my chest
My heart now beats in your tender breast.

You robbed me blind with a crook of your eye
Your thieving eyes (x2) stole my heart away
I wanted to shout but I could only sigh
Your thieving eyes (x2) stole my heart away.

I just stood there as if I had lost my voice
Your eyes, oh, your eyes left my heart no choice
Time stood still as you looked my way
I swore I would love you till my dying day
My heart missed a beat as if about to die
My feet were rooted but my soul touched the sky.

You robbed me blind with a crook of your eye
Your thieving eyes (x2) stole my heart away
I wanted to shout but I could only sigh
Your thieving eyes (x2) stole my heart away.

I want to drown myself in those twin pools
I want to see myself in those sparkling jewels
I want them to look at me and smile
I want them to invite me all the while
How can your innocent eyes be so wicked?!
I want to look into each one and kiss it!

You robbed me blind with a crook of your eye
Your thieving eyes (x2) stole my heart away
I wanted to shout but I could only sigh
Your thieving eyes (x2) stole my heart away.
