Lahore City

Lahore city, the girls so pretty
Lahore city, the girls so pretty
The girls in your city are pretty I’m sure
But in Lahore they’re pretty just a little bit more
Lahore city, the girls so pretty
Lahore city, the girls so pretty.

When you want to get away from every vulture
Take a trip to Lahore, city of historic culture
The jewellery quarter has diamonds and pearls
But nothing as precious as the golden girls
All the parks have peacocks strolling on the lawns
All the gardens have ladies parading their finest gowns
The flowers in bloom will make your heart sigh
You can have heaven without having to die

Lahore city, the girls so pretty
Lahore city, the girls so pretty
The girls in your city are pretty I’m sure
But in Lahore they’re pretty just a little bit more
Lahore city, the girls so pretty
Lahore city, the girls so pretty.

Early in the morning when Lahore is bathed in sunshine
Or at dusk when she seems to be wearing silk so fine
Listen and recite, there’s a poem on every street corner
Every sight and sound sings a song in her honour
Taste the food so lush it has certain powers
Her perfume is sweeter than all the flowers
Every pretty girl you see will make you cry
You can have heaven without having to die

Lahore city, the girls so pretty
Lahore city, the girls so pretty
The girls in your city are pretty I’m sure
But in Lahore they’re pretty just a little bit more
Lahore city, the girls so pretty
Lahore city, the girls so pretty.

Every sense, every emotion magnified
Every nerve in my body electrified
I am wired to every star in the sky
My heart is a kite ready to fly
If you want further proof
Meet me up on the roof
Look at all the sweet angels walking by
You can have heaven without having to die

Lahore city, the girls so pretty
Lahore city, the girls so pretty
The girls in your city are pretty I’m sure
But in Lahore they’re pretty just a little bit more
Lahore city, the girls so pretty
Lahore city, the girls so pretty.

In Praise Of Practise

There is no secret, no magic pill, no easy way in
Methodical practise is the key if you want to win
Deliberate practise designed to make progress
Aim the practise at the target for sweet success
The new rises from the old as you fuel the burning
Fresh repetition is the mother of all creative learning
Get Father Time on your side if you want glory in the sun
You cannot stop his hands but you can make his feet run

Every second, every minute, every hour of every day of your life
Take a stand on the edge of the blade and sharpen the knife
You have to shovel a mountain to find a diamond
You have to obey the laws of supply and demand
The more you demand it the more it will be supplied
The more you practise it the more you will be qualified
Rage against the Mediocre too busy doing nothing
Rage against the Wannabe wanting something for nothing

Natural talent just sitting around is a jerk
Natural talent has to be honed with hard work
The one who practises the hard will turn it to easy
The one who practises the most will turn it to reality
Talent is good but practise makes it better
Talent is good but practise makes it greater
All greatness is a mix of certain passions
And a certain number of practise sessions

You must have the desire and the will to practise the skill
Practise the techniques till you are ready to make the kill
How can you move forward if you do not practise?
How can you improve further if you do not practise?
Put your back into it, put your heart into it
Put your mind to it, pour your soul into it
Patience, patience, learning the craft takes time
The more the grape ripens the sweeter the wine

Practise with love … that is the key lesson
Practise what you love with energetic passion
Practise with the belief that you will reach your goal
Practise with the knowledge that it is in your control
Imagine it … and practise it till it is real
Practise the dream till it is a done deal
Never forget the golden rule to winning
Set your eyes on the prize, and keep practising.

Splitting Hairs

Alexander the Great and his mule driver both died
And the same thing happened to both …
Yes, but one is nameless
And the other is Immortal
Or, one name is Mule Driver
And the other is Alexander.

Historic Law

The rules of the Ages are not fair
History really does not care
About your mother or father
The brother, sister, son or daughter
The uncle, aunt, cousin, or lover
Relative or friend, or other
Factor, such as the clothes you wear
Your house, your car, or your hair
If you were happy or sad
If you behaved, good or bad
If you were kind to an old lady
Or donated to a charity
You made a deal, had a good meal
You earned it, or had to steal
Or the chance that was missed
The girl who was not kissed
All of these are of their time
But they are not FOR ALL TIME
History cares for only one goddamn thing
The one who can give her a good fucking.

Radikal Yoot

I want tons of easy money NOW!
I want fast cars that go POW!
I want fast women who go WOW!!

Asshole, you must be motherfucking dumb
You think I am willing to be a walking bomb?
Blow myself up? You must take me for a bum

Every revolutionary in history blew up the enemy
The Paki is so thick he blows himself up initially?
Your own public are the victims of your sick strategy

This Paki wants tons of easy money NOW!
This Paki wants fast cars that go POW!
This Paki wants fast women who go WOW!!

Self Rule

There are no gods, dictators, or kings
Laws and orders are for the hoi polloi
Limits and regulations do not apply
Will to power, total mastery, the Man of destiny
Controls what is in his vicinity
By ruling over himself he rules all things.

Take This Stone ( Place It Upon Your Heart )

Take this stone, place it upon your heart
The less it moves the less you will hurt
Take this stone, place it upon your heart
The less it moves the less you will hurt

Gently, calm the frantic beat of your aching heart
Release the valve before it blows itself apart
Ease the pressure on that pump in your breast
Weigh it down before it tears a hole in your chest
It cannot reason with the scale of her treason
The mask is off, the hate is out in the open

Take this stone, place it upon your heart
The less it moves the less you will hurt
Take this stone, place it upon your heart
The less it moves the less you will hurt

She stabbed repeatedly, with a song on her lips
She danced over your body, with leaps and skips
She checked the recipe all the while
She watched you bleed with a smile
Whatever took place she did it willingly
The look on her face!! She did it killingly

Take this stone, place it upon your heart
The less it moves the less you will hurt
Take this stone, place it upon your heart
The less it moves the less you will hurt

Your own flesh and blood now smear you with mud
Their natural love ran dry as you drowned in the flood
The apple of your eye is the one who twisted the knife
Your one true love casually switched off your life
You are all alone, turn your heart to stone
Build a wall around, turn your heart to stone

Take this stone, place it upon your heart
The less it moves the less you will hurt
Take this stone, place it upon your heart
The less it moves the less you will hurt.

Do Not Ask Of Me For That First Love, My Beloved

Do not ask of me for that first love, my Beloved
As I understood it, having you here makes Life so luminous
Sharing your woes, I have no quarrel with sorrows of the world
Your radiant beauty blesses the earth with eternal Spring
What does this world possess to compare with your eyes?

If you were mine, Fate would bow to my command
It was not so, though I wanted it only to be so
The present time has other torments besides mere love
Other pleasures besides the thrill of coming together

Dark spells threaded on the brutal loom of Ages
Woven in silk, satin and brocade
Hand over fist, bodies sold in alleys and bazaars
Bathed in blood, shrouded in ash
Bodies forged in furnaces of pestilence
Pus oozing from their festering sores …
What can I do? My gaze keeps turning to them too
But what can I do? Though your beauty is ever attractive

The present time has other torments besides mere love
Other pleasures besides the thrill of coming together
Do not ask of me for that first love, my Beloved.

(My take on a poem by the beloved Faiz Ahmed Faiz)

The Knowing

You know
You can SEE it or it’s invisible
If it’s possible or impossible
You know
If you can or if you cannot
If you will or you will not
You know
If you will fail or succeed
If you have a fertile seed
You know
If you will be rich or poor
It’s an open window or a closed door
You know
If by the gods you have been blessed
If by fickle Fate you have been cursed
You know
If it’s to be a famine or a feast
If you will have many or the least
You know
If you will be laughing or crying
If you will be living or dying
You know
If your time is coming or going
It is all in the knowing

And you know it.
