Let me swim in a sea of ink
Let me write all I feel and think
Then I will have no regret if I sink.

Every little thing in this world
Fashion, industry, technology, science
Everything develops, moves forward
People run around, trying to keep up;
The latest titbit, the shiniest, the must have
To die for, gimmick, gadget, toy
The essential thrill, can’t live without;
So new, so modern, so civilised, a million years
A million miles away from the furthest jungle
A miracle that the ape became a Man
And the man developed a civilisation;
Things change, evolve, mature
Everything apart from Human Nature.
You think you are civilised?
Cultured? Educated? Refined?
Your hoity-toity airs and graces
A touch away from the Beast;
You are two steps away
From the darkest jungle
You are seven meals away
From being a cannibal;
The call of the wild
Bite, tear flesh, taste blood
Extreme measures taken to safeguard
Your belly, your ass, your dick
But above all your pocket;
There is but ONE truth
You are an animal, a beast
King of the jungle, you MUST rule
Lord it over every creature;
Things change, evolve, mature
Everything apart from Human Nature.
Take off, sail the stars, create new Markets
Colonize the planets, organise slave labour
Bondage dressed as Democracy, Freedom, Progress
The biggest guns rule the Heavens;
The money-men buy/create new technology
Soft/hardware to keep them ahead, on top
Their children will inherit, born to rule
Part man/machine, Time will bow before them;
Gleaming, glittering cyborgs, bells and whistles
Running around, trying to keep up, the must have
The latest stimulant, to die for
The can’t live without, the old, old story;
Things change, evolve, mature
Everything apart from Human Nature.

The neglected dead flowers, the broken vase
The last argument, the last words said to my wife
“Am I supposed to stick my head up your arse
And walk behind you for the rest of my life…?”

You are no longer you, and I am no longer I
The you and I of old gone by the by
Face the fact even if it makes us cry
Nothing will change no matter how we try
End it now or continue living a lie
The truth so plain we cannot deny
You are no longer you, and I am no longer I
The you and I of old gone by the by.

Fuel with every breath
Apply a blowtorch to mortality
Let there be death
And then — Immortality!

A few feet away
We were so far apart
Now many miles away
You are closer to my heart.

Daddy, why are you leaving?
Because I have to be true to Zafar Iqbal
Daddy, why are you not staying?
Because I cannot be false to Zafar Iqbal.

God appears to the Creative Man
“I will whisper in your ear
And you bring forth a form
For all men to witness.”
The artist, inspired, expresses in words plain
His heart and soul, in all their glory, laid bare
Reveal the Ideal that should be the norm
Mirror the higher power behind the Bliss.
