The Last Poem

This is the last poem
I’ll ever write about you
This is the last poem
I’ll ever dedicate to you
This is the last poem
I’ll ever send to you
This is the last poem
In loving memory of you :

The pools of your almond eyes
Where the love-light flowed over the brim
The ocean of lava between your thighs
Where I always loved to swim
Our limbs were wings that flew the skies
Our bodies felt like a pagan pilgrim
All our prayers were said with heartfelt sighs
I worshipped at your holy shrine deep within.

Sugar was like salt compared to your kiss
So sweet that no words can tell
Your hips had a path leading to bliss
So narrow that love died if it fell
But I went up that path as easy as this
You said no-one else could do it half as well
But now … oh, it is torture to reminisce
Farewell, my sweet love, farewell.

Detached Retina

Out of sight is not out of mind
But you have to be cruel to be kind
Nurse the heartache if you want to survive
Put yourself first in order to stay alive
When common ground cannot be found
Travel your own path, stay safe and sound
When basic communication has broken down
Pack your heart to the other side of town
Cut the cord and leave them behind
Step to one side and you will find
You have to be cruel to be kind
But out of sight is not out of mind.

Heart Surgery

Cut you out of my heart?
How can I imagine doing that?
My heart is you, you are my heart

You are in every part
From the first to the last
From the finish to the start

From the pulse throbbing through each vein
Till the very last drop of blood to remain
Each heartbeat sighs your name over again

Cut you out of my heart?
If only it was easy as that
You are impossible to live without

But you act as if you could not care less
My life without you is meaningless
I have to operate to clean up this mess

I never want to cry, never be hurt again
Never lose sleep, never risk going insane
Once and for all cut out the unbearable pain

Cut you out of my heart?
Take a scalpel, slice my chest apart
Grab my beating heart, cut it clean out.

Militant

What do I want above all?

I want to work hard, make an honest living
To love and respect my mother and father
To take care of them in their old age
To look out for my brothers and sisters
To get married, and try to live happily ever after
To love and respect my wife, build a home together
To have children, love and provide for them
To watch them grow, run around, go to school
To guide them on their way in the world
To laugh and cry, go to weddings and funerals
To mix with family, relatives, and friends
To be part of the day to day soap opera
To work, pay tax, pay bills, to scrimp and save
To have a roof over my head on a rainy day
To one day be able to play with my grandchildren

The same as you.

Azad!!

What have we always wanted?
The one thing we always wanted?
Azadi!

From day one you made the wrong choice
From day one you refused to listen to our voice
Azadi!

Your army seven hundred thousand strong
Occupation, torture, rape, murder, so, so strong
Azadi!

Branded us terrorists, you sold it so well
The world bought it, we went through hell
Azadi!

We are more than willing and able
We will win at the negotiating table
Azadi!

We have paid the price with our blood
Our prayers have been answered by God
Azadi!

The countless dead, the rivers of blood
Now freedom is rushing forward like a flood
Azadi!

For the first time we control the narrative
We asked and asked, now you have to give
Azadi!

Truth, justice, freedom, the stars are aligned
The world on our side, the treaty will be signed
Azadi!

There was only one way this could end
You cannot deny us, Kashmir is OUR land
Azadi!

In order to get out of the quagmire
The enemy has to be free of Kashmir
Azadi!

Go back to your own country
I am free … I now set you free
Azadi!

Heaven on earth, Kashmir
Kashmir, Azad Kashmir
Azad!!

Freedom!!

Born free … then forced to live in captivity
Born free … then forced to live in poverty
Kill the oppressor and be born again, born free
Azadi! ….. Azadi! ….. Azadi!

Take the precaution to know your enemy
Or you will pay with your life and liberty
Rise up and defend your home and family
Azadi! ….. Azadi! ….. Azadi!

The enemy is anyone who bogs you down in mediocrity
The enemy is anything that blocks your creativity
Break free when they try to suffocate your humanity
Azadi! ….. Azadi! ….. Azadi!

Control the narrative, that is half the victory
The winner gets to write his version of history
Fight like a lion to kill the brutal enemy
Azadi! ….. Azadi! ….. Azadi!

Bullets and torture are used to enforce their policy
They commit war crimes with impunity, without mercy
Fight to the end, with your last breath shout ‘Liberty!’
Azadi! ….. Azadi! ….. Azadi!

Changing their slogans is part of the strategy
Their marketing sells the victim as the enemy
Take over the narrative and set yourself free
Azadi! ….. Azadi! ….. Azadi!

The weak have no hope of winning equality
The meek will inherit the dirt, buried by tyranny
You must kill to take back your country
Azadi! ….. Azadi! ….. Azadi!

Rise up and annihilate your enemy
Swim in a sea of their blood to be free
It is the golden rule of history
Azadi! ….. Azadi! ….. Azadi!

Amputation

After years of stop … pause … stay … or go
In dread I came to your room to say goodbye
Gingerly I made small talk … to stifle the cry
Too afraid to ask for one last hug, one last kiss
(My medicine, your magic hug, your healing kiss)
It would have killed me to hear you say ‘No’.
